Cyprus     

The choice of Cyprus as a home jurisdiction for the ship registration is conditioned with:

• The profits and ship management activities are exempted from income tax.
• The dividends generated from ship owning activities are exempted from dividend tax.
• The ship selling or transfer to some other company is exempted from capital gain tax. Also there is no capital gain tax if the ship-owning company passes its shares.
• The ship-owning company shares succession is exempted from property tax.
• The ship’s crew and service staff wage payments are exempted from the payroll taxes.
• There is no stamp duty at the shipping facility’s pledge.
• Currently 27 treaties are in force, under which ships, registered in Cyprus, have national or preferential treatment in the ports of other states and so forth.

Ireland

The basic advantage of the shipping company registration in Ireland is a particular tax mode, provided for the companies. This is “tonnage tax” mode. According to the mode, the tax burden of the shipping company is defined by the vessel’s bill of tonnage, but not by the profit gained by the shipping company.

In order to use the indicated tax mode, the factual management and strategic company’s running should be on the territory of Ireland.

Panama

As soon as Panama is a tax free jurisdiction, the shipping company owning is exempted from taxes. In order to register the ship, such as yacht, flying the flag of Panama, firstly you need to register a company there. After the registration you need to receive special provisionary permit (license) for navigation and radio signals. They recommend to use and to buy the ships less than 20 years since the day of their production.
